Good Morning!


Hello Macaroni Friends.  Today is my son Cameron's 5th birthday.  I am getting old, but they seem to be aging t a much faster rate.....lol....  I hope everyone had a great week and enjoyed some of the wonderful activities on our to-do list.  The weather has been nice this week, it has even felt  little like winter on some days.  Please cross your fingers for a warm and sunny day on Saturday, we were giving our two birthday boys a party!

Friday, January 20 through Friday, February 3 - Summertime Exploration Challenge

Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area
Kids- bring a book and camera to a state park and take the challenge! Parents and kids can go online to print the rules and checklist of activities. Kids are required to complete five activities on the list, including reading a book in a state park, and send a photo of each one to enter the contest. Good luck! You will earn a FREE pass for you and your family to a State Park!

Who: Children 18 and under.
How: Check the State Park website and print off the form and rules.  You will need a camera and a book of choice.
Cost: Park fees. Most range from $5 to $10 per day.

Monday, February 6 - State Park to Offer Full Moon Beach Hike.

Join Ranger Lauren for a full moon beach hike!  The hike will leave from the beachside day use pavilion. Please bring water, a flashlight and dress for the weather. Hike will be less than a mile long.

Show your kids some science with items you probably have right now. 

What you need:

  • A clear, tall container
  • 3 cups of water--You can see in the video that I did not measure anything
  • 1/4 to 1/3 cup of baking soda
  • 1/8 cup of unpopped popcorn kernels
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup of white vinegar

 

 

What you do:

  1. Mix baking soda and water in the clear container
  2. Add corn kernels

Pancake and Sausage Muffins


This year one of my goals was to make more and buy less, at least when it comes to convenience foods.  My kids love Pancakes on a Stick, a pancake wrapped around a breakfast sausage on a stick.  I can't blame them, I love anything on a stick!

Since I couldn't figure out how to make those on a stick I turned them into muffins.  They freeze great, just like the store bought kind, and you can make a ton at one time.  Both bonuses for our busy ...
